West Girls Bring Home Gold Medals...
The Texas Women’s Powerlifting Association State Championship was held in Frisco last week, and multiple local athletes placed after advancing to the state contest.
Two West powerlifters earned gold medals. Janessa Gallegos earned first in her weight class with a total of 1,090 lbs. lifted, including 445 lbs. in squat, 250 lbs. in bench press and 395 lbs. in the deadlift. Avery Davis also brought home the gold for the Lady Trojans with a total lift of 1,205 lbs., including 510 lbs. in squat, 320 lbs. in bench press and 375 in deadlift.
Another local powerlifter medaling at state was Hubbard's Alyssa Kraayvanger, who placed second her weight class with a total of 1,025 lbs. lifted.
