'Eclipseboro' Efforts Continue As April 8 Solar Eclipse Nears

The finishing touches are being put on the effort to transform Hillsboro into "Eclipseboro" for the Monday, April 8, total solar eclipse.

As one of the best spots in the nation to view the eclipse, Hillsboro is expected to welcome visitors, scientists and photographers from all over the world. The travelers are expected to begin arriving around Thursday, April 4, and leave soon after the eclipse.

Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Director Lynette Hearrell reported last week that lodging reservations have been made from 49 states, and international guests from Dubai, Tanzania, Germany and other locations have also booked stays.
