WELCOME TO ECLIPSEBORO

Area residents will join with visitors to witness a rare total solar eclipse Monday, April 8. The last total eclipse in Hillsboro was July 29, 1878. After 2024, the next total eclipse in Hillsboro will not occur until after 2185.

During totality, our area will experience a 360-degree sunset. The afternoon sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Soft wisps of the sun’s fiery atmosphere, normally invisible to the naked eye, will become visible around the moon. Hill County will witness the full effects of the eclipse, drawing visitors from all over the world who have booked stays in our area. Effects of the eclipse will be noticeable from 12:21:24 p.m.

to 3:01:16 p.m., with totality from 1:38:43 p.m. to 1:43:04 p.m. Hillsboro's Eclipseboro team has been busy planning to make the experience enjoyable for everyone who lives in or travels to our area. Some of the events planned locally are available at www.eclipseboro.com.
